Robert Buckendorf, PhD, the practice manager, received his master’s degree in 1975 from Idaho State University and PhD in 1997 from Wichita State University. Dr. Buckendorf worked in schools until opening a private practice in 1979 which continued through 1999. He was an assistant professor at Oregon Health & Science University from 1999 through 2006 where he remains on faculty as a clinical assistant professor.  He is also an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University. He re-opened his private practice in association with his son, Brandon Buckendorf, MA, CCC-SLP and daughter-in-law, Tracy Buckendorf, MA, CCC-SLP 2006-2015.

His interests are in pediatric speech and language disabilities including autism, language disorders, phonological disorders, cranio-facial disorders, and fluency disorders. He is past president of the Oregon Speech and Hearing Association and of the Oregon Academy of Speech Pathology and Audiology, and was on the board of the Northwest Early Childhood Institute and was also on the board of Professionally Speaking. He presents nationally and internationally on the topic of child directed interventions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, edited the text Autism: A Guide for Educators, Clinicians, and Parents (2008, Thinking Publications), and has co-authored several book chapters on Speech-Language pathology topics. He has received the ACE award for continuing education from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).

His professional interests include measuring clinician attributes which may lead to greater effectiveness in treatment and he has been involved in several clinical outcome trials.
